This is our first release candidate. All known bugs are fixed although we do expect a few more releases of bug fixes yet.
Idps can now reject a search string (too general, not well formed) and the user will be informed of this. We are keeping as much power as possible in the hands of idp administrators.
You can find more details at AAF-RC-01.
β-07 is now out and has also been released to QA. You can read the release notes at
http://www.mams.org.au/confluence/display/PPK/AAF-Rel1-Beta-06![]()
I have merged the invitation client and web-pp so that there is just one codebase for both.
PeoplePicker now has zero outstanding bugs! I am sure I could find some more if I look hard enough, but I will just enjoy this for now ![]()
If you want to test out the latest version, just head over to

Note the change (since β-06) in the front page for people picker - it is no longer SearchForm.jsp, now just Search.jsp
We now have an instance of the people picker invitation client deployed for interested people to investigate.
This is an early release specifically because we are looking for comments, bugs and improvements. Please don't be shy about letting us know your opinion of this new client.
This client is able to look up people within the federation and invite them to use the service on which it is deployed, with just two mouse clicks. For example, ppk6 has a demo jsp deployed, but nobody has been given access. Using the invitation client on ppk6, we can give access to anyone that people picker can find. Those users get an email telling them about the invitation and can then access the service by logging in via their idp.
To start working with the people picker invitation client, please follow the demonstration instructions .
β-06 is now out and has also been released to QA. You can read the release notes at
http://www.mams.org.au/confluence/display/PPK/AAF-Rel1-Beta-06![]()
This release has finalised the release of features requested at last meeting, includes a major code cleanup in web-pp, the first release of invitation client and another load of bug fixes.
If you want to test out the latest version, just head over to

Note the change in the front page for people picker - it is no longer SearchForm.jsp, now just Search.jsp
β-05 has a significantly improved interface, is more flexible in terms of what attributes can be released and has many fewer bugs than β-04.
We are quite pleased with this particular release and while there are some rough edges in the new interface, we encourage you to take a look.

Have fun,
Matt
A recent flurry of development activity has seen web-pp significantly change. There have been changes to the back-end pieces to allow for the new web-pp functionality as well. Go check it out
Although People Picker itself has not seen any major improvements since β3 was released, there have been some important changes to the testing client. For that reason we are having an unofficial release of β3.5 of vt1-pp. This release includes:
You can get it from PeoplePicker/vt1-pp/tags/AAF-Rel1-Beta-03.5/ in the subversion repository.
We have modified β3 of people picker as a whole to now include this improved vt1-pp instead of the original β3 version.
The vt1-pp test program has been deployed to keep an eye on our internal people picker developer federation. Rather than use cron to schedule the script, we are using Hudson
with great sucess. If anyone within mams is interested in using Hudson to keep an eye on an arbitrary script (not necessarily an ant build), copy hudson - people picker developer federation
and modify it for your needs, it is working very well for me ![]()
The latest beta of people picker, Beta-03 (released 28/03/08) includes a program that can automatically test both the status of your white pages idp machines and the single federated white pages machine. Combined with a cron-job, you can have zero-effort, continuous testing of your entire federated white pages setup.
People Picker is now in Beta!
A coding guide for anyone wanting to write their own PeoplePicker client has been released at
http://www.mams.org.au/confluence/display/PPK/WritingCustomClient![]()
With this, anyone can quickly and easily create a custom client from scratch, or customise the standard client that we provide.
The first actual release of people picker has occured
. We have released an early alpha of version 0.1 for testing.
