The following is the message from the AAF project

On 30 November 2009, the MAMS Testbed Federation will be decommissioned.

From 1 December 2009, the Australian Access Federation (AAF) production environment will replace MAMS. The AAF is the next generation of Federation technology and is based on what's happening internationally in this area. Support will, however, continue to be available to existing members of MAMS to migrate their services to the AAF.

To ensure continuance of service after 30 November 2009, we encourage your institution to migrate to the AAF production environment without delay. Joining the AAF is currently on a 'best endeavours' basis by abiding by the AAF Rules for Participants. To join the AAF, download the Engagement Pack at: http://www.aaf.edu.au/index.php/join/ and return to join@aaf.edu.au as soon as possible. We can also provide a dedicated technical resource to help you migrate your services into the AAF, if required. If you have any questions, please contact enquiries@aaf.edu.au.

It is important to recognize and acknowledge the significance of the work undertaken by the MAMS Testbed Federation to date. MAMS was launched in late 2005 to provide the Australian higher education and research communities with a secure collaboration and single sign-on solution. From then until now, MAMS has enabled some 70+ Identity and Service Providers to collaborate and share research outcomes while at the same time raising the profile and benefits of the Federation. The work undertaken by MAMS staff has enabled a natural progression to this next stage of development.
